If you do not agree to these terms, please do not create an account or use features that require acceptance of these terms.

  1. PURPOSE OF THE WEBSITE

NPR Business & Services is a neighborhood community resource designed to help residents:

  • Discover businesses and services offered by neighbors and local providers
  • Share and discover neighborhood events and activities

NPR Business & Services provides the platform and directory tools. Unless expressly stated otherwise, we are not the owner, operator, employer, sponsor, organizer, agent, representative, or guarantor of businesses, services, events, transactions, or individuals appearing on the website.

The appearance of a person, business, service, event, or listing on the website does not constitute an endorsement, certification, recommendation, background check, or guarantee by NPR Business & Services.

  1. NEIGHBORHOOD MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Registered membership is intended for current residents of the neighborhoods served by NPR Business & Services, presently including:

  • Nelliefield
  • Peninsula
  • River Reach Pointe
  • River Club Estates
  • St. Thomas Point
  • Wando Pointe

During registration, users may be asked to provide their neighborhood and street name to help confirm membership eligibility and reduce spam, fake accounts, inappropriate listings, and misuse of community features.

Users should provide only their street name and not their house number when requested for membership confirmation.

Neighborhood and street-name information collected for membership purposes is not intended for public display.

By registering, you represent that the neighborhood and street-name information you provide is truthful and accurate.

NPR Business & Services currently relies primarily on user-provided information and self-certification and does not guarantee independent verification of every member’s residence.

Providing false residency information or attempting to gain access through misrepresentation may result in suspension or termination of an account.

Listing eligibility may also be subject to our separate Listing Guidelines.

  1. AGE REQUIREMENTS AND MINORS

Users must be at least 13 years old to create or independently manage an account.

USERS UNDER 13

Individuals under 13 may not create or independently manage an NPR Business & Services account.

A parent or legal guardian may create and manage an account, listing, or other content on behalf of a child when appropriate and permitted by the website.

If NPR Business & Services learns that an account was independently created by a child under 13, we may suspend or remove the account and take reasonable steps concerning information associated with that account as required by applicable law.

USERS AGES 13 THROUGH 17

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the website only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

By registering as a user under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian knows that you are creating an account and has given you permission to use the website, including its listings, comments, and messaging features.

All users are expected to communicate appropriately.

Adults must never use NPR Business & Services to:

  • Request sexual photographs, videos, or other sexual material
  • Groom, manipulate, exploit, or intimidate a minor
  • Encourage a minor to conceal communications from a parent or guardian

Conduct involving suspected exploitation, abuse, or imminent danger may result in immediate account removal and may be reported to appropriate authorities when reasonably necessary or legally required.

Submission does not guarantee publication or continued inclusion.

  1. YOUTH SERVICES AND INFORMAL NEIGHBORHOOD WORK

Some members, including teenagers, may use the website to offer neighborhood services such as:

NPR Business & Services does not independently verify or guarantee a person’s:

Unless NPR Business & Services expressly states otherwise, we are not the organizer, host, sponsor, or operator of an event listed on the website.

NPR Business & Services does not guarantee:

Submitting knowingly false or malicious reports to harm another member may itself constitute a violation of these Terms.

A report does not guarantee that content or an account will be removed.

NPR Business & Services may review reports and determine what action, if any, is appropriate.

Possible actions may include:

  • No action
  • Warning a user
  • Removing content
  • Restricting messaging
  • Suspending a listing
  • Suspending an account
  • Terminating an account
  • Taking other reasonable safety or administrative action

We are not required to disclose the identity of the person who submitted a report or provide either party with the outcome of every moderation decision.

Blocking another member can help prevent further direct communication through supported features, but blocking does not guarantee that the blocked person cannot encounter or interact with the user elsewhere on the website or outside the website.

  1. REVIEW OF REPORTED MESSAGES

Private messages are not displayed publicly.

However, if a message or conversation is reported, authorized NPR Business & Services administrators or moderators may review the reported message and surrounding conversation context when reasonably necessary to investigate the report, enforce these Terms, protect members, respond to safety concerns, comply with law, or maintain the messaging system.

Users should therefore not treat website messaging as a legally privileged, confidential, or emergency communication service.

The appearance of a listing as “Featured,” “Top Rated,” highlighted, promoted, or otherwise given additional visibility does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee.

Featured or promotional placement may simply reflect administrative selection or a promotional arrangement.

Users are responsible for conducting their own research before hiring, purchasing from, meeting, attending, or otherwise interacting with another person or business.

  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONTENT PERMISSION

The original design, branding, written content, graphics, organization, and other materials created for NPR Business & Services may not be copied, republished, or commercially used without permission.

Business names, logos, photographs, descriptions, and other materials submitted by users remain the property of their respective owners.

By submitting public content to the website, including listings, event information, comments, reviews, images, and similar material, you grant NPR Business & Services permission to store, display, format, resize, reproduce, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and promote the website and the applicable listing or event.

This permission does not mean NPR Business & Services owns your original content.

Private messages are not licensed to NPR Business & Services for advertising or promotional publication merely because they are sent through the messaging system.

You represent that you own submitted content or have permission from the owner to use and publish it.
